Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes

Overview of Assistance: Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes offers free food assistance through its Mobile Food Initiative, serving individuals and families in Kalamazoo County and surrounding communities. Food is distributed at scheduled mobile sites throughout the county on a first-come, first-served basis, with locations changing by date.

No eligibility requirements or paperwork are required, and food is available to local residents at no cost. If a distribution is held at a school, families do not need to have a child enrolled to receive food.

Each distribution typically includes 5–7 perishable and non-perishable food items, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Food items vary by location and date. Mobile distributions take place at multiple sites each month, with additional pop-up locations offered periodically.

The Grocery Pantry Program (GPP) is Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes’ primary food assistance program, providing free groceries to individuals and families in Kalamazoo County.

How to receive food:

• Call the KLF Call Center at 269-343-3663, Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–4:00 pm to schedule an appointment

• Appointments are available for curbside pickup, in-person shopping, or home delivery

• Pantry locations are available throughout Kalamazoo County

• Free home delivery is available within Kalamazoo County

If you are unable to call, assistance can also be requested by emailing info@kzoolf.org or sending a message through Facebook. Caseworkers may schedule appointments or pick up pre-packed food orders on behalf of clients.

What you’ll receive:

• Both perishable and non-perishable food items

• Groceries typically include protein, fruits and vegetables, and grains, aligned with USDA nutrition guidelines

Important details:

• No ID or income verification is required

• The program can be accessed twice per calendar month, up to 24 visits per year

Want to Help? Loaves & Fishes primarily accepts monetary donations and hosted food drives. Individuals and workplaces can sign up to receive food drive kits from the corporate office. Individual food donations are also accepted, with drop-off times listed on their website.
