Owosso Community Resources

Greater Lansing Food Bank

Overview of Assistance: There are several ways to receive food assistance through the Greater Lansing Food Bank, depending on your needs.

Families and individuals can access free groceries through mobile food distributions held at various locations throughout the community. Mobile food banks offer free food at no cost to participate. To find current locations, dates, and times, visit the Greater Lansing Food Bank website and review the list of available pantries and mobile distributions. Please review the mobile distribution schedule and locations here: https://greaterlansingfoodbank.org/get-help/pantries

Weekend Kits are available for children who need food outside of school hours, including weekends and school breaks. These kits are placed discreetly into a child’s backpack and are designed to help meet basic nutritional needs. There are no eligibility requirements for this program. Any child in kindergarten through 12th grade who needs food may participate, and there is no cost to families. To enroll a child in the Weekend Kits program, families should contact their school’s administrator.

Home food delivery is also available for eligible neighbors in mid-Michigan. Food is delivered directly to the home, and individuals do not need to be present at the time of delivery. To qualify for home delivery, individuals must meet income guidelines for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), qualify for programs such as SNAP, WIC, FDPIR, CSFP, or free or reduced school lunches, or be experiencing food insecurity. Participants must also live within 10 miles of a designated home delivery hub.

Current home delivery hub locations include:

• Durand Area Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 202 E. Main St, Vernon, MI 48476

• Elsie Area Food Pantry, 219 S. Ovid St, Elsie, MI 48831
